ZIMRA calls upon SMEs to comply with fiscal laws

The Acting Commissioner General (CG) of the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), Mr Happias Kuzvinzwa, has called upon small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) to understand their tax rights and obligations, as well as to voluntarily comply with fiscal legislation for the development of the nation.

“… It is critical to note that your tax contribution is necessary for the provision of social services. Your tax goes to hospitals … for medicines, which can only be bought when you contribute to the tax system of the country. I, therefore, urge you to register with ZIMRA and pay your taxes on time and in full,” said Mr Kuzvinzwa.

The Customs and Excise (General) Regulations published in Statutory Instrument 154 of 2001 (as amended) in Section 115 provides for a rebate of duty on a bona-fide gift sent by a person residing outside Zimbabwe to a person or family residing in Zimbabwe.

ZIMRA hosts media workshop

The workshop, which was held under the theme, “Taking Taxation to the People”, sought to enhance the media’s appreciation of tax and customs duty matters and to explore areas of partnership between the Revenue Authority and the media.

Customs Valuation and Transfer Pricing Workshop Opens

The workshop, which is running from 20 to 24 February 2017, has attracted about 30 participants from the WCO East and Southern African (ESA) Region.
