Gift rebate explained

The Customs and Excise (General) Regulations published in Statutory Instrument 154 of 2001 (as amended) in Section 115 provides for a rebate of duty on a bona-fide gift sent by a person residing outside Zimbabwe to a person or family residing in Zimbabwe.

 
ZIMRA hosts media workshop

media workshop.jpg - 6.73 MbThe Zimbabwe Revenue Authority hosted a media workshop on 1 March 2017 which was attended by about 50 media practitioners from both private and public media. The workshop, which was held under the theme, “Taking Taxation to the People”, sought to enhance the media’s appreciation of tax and customs duty matters and to explore areas of partnership between the Revenue Authority and the media.

 
Customs Valuation and Transfer Pricing Workshop Opens

atransfer pricing2.jpg - 3.68 MbThe Zimbabwe Revenue Authority Acting Commissioner General Mr Happias Kuzvinzwa, officially opened the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Customs Valuation and Transfer Pricing workshop yesterday at a local hotel. The workshop, which is running from 20 to 24 February 2017, has attracted about 30 participants from the WCO East and Southern African (ESA) Region.

 
Government removes VAT on some basic products

zimralogo.png - 732.81 KbThe Ministry of Finance and Economic Development has announced the repeal of Statutory Instrument 20 of 2017, which provided for the charging of Value Added Tax (VAT) at a standard rate of 15% on beef, chicken, fish, rice, potatoes, margarine and mahewu.

In terms of Statutory Instrument 26A of 2017 , the goods are now exempt from VAT, which means that no VAT will be chargeable on the specified items.

 
Business community pledges to comply with fiscal laws

This was said at the breakfast meeting organised by the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), which was attended by the Acting Commissioner General of the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), Mr Happias Kuzvinzwa, tax consultants, captains of industry and commerce, Government officials and ZIMRA management.
