mercator.jpg - 60.16 KbThe Zimbabwe Revenue Authority and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce co-hosted the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Mercator Implementation Project Scoping Mission Workshop which was held from 16-17 March 2016.

 

 

The aim of the workshop was to establish a forward plan to support ZIMRA and the Zimbabwe National Committee on Trade Facilitation (NCTF) on the implementation of the Bali Trade Facilitation Agreement.

 

Speaking during the official opening of the workshop, the ZIMRA Commissioner General, Mr Gershem Pasi, said that the workshop was in line with ZIMRA's vision of being a beacon of excellence in the provision of fiscal services and facilitation of trade and travel.

 

“We are aware that the WCO Mercator Programme is there to support members' preparation for implementing the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), which is in line with the Authority's vision”, he said.

 

The workshop was graced by consultants from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) World Customs Organisation (WCO), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), clearing agents, ZIMTRADE, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, ZIMRA and Department of  Immigration.
