ZIMRA Commissioner General, Ms Faith Mazani with Professor Patrick Lumumba

Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) partnered the Economic Renaissance Summit held on the 20th of September 2018 at Rainbow Towers Hotel.

The event was attended by captains of industry and had three prominent presentations from Professor Patrick Lumumba, Professor Tony Hawkins and Dr Charles Mugaviri and ZIMRA sponsored the live screening of the summit by ZBC.


Held under the theme “Taming the Wild for Economic Prosperity,” the summit was graced by renowned speakers including the Professor Patrick Lumumba from Kenya and was meant to discuss key issues on how to transform the Zimbabwean Economy as the country moves towards a new trajectory in resuscitating the economy.

Professor Patrick Lumumba presented under the theme “Reengineering the economy 360 Degrees Radical Transformation dealing with corruption scourge.” He emphasised on the need for Zimbabwe to make sure that as it turns its economy around, the lives of many Zimbabweans be made better, fight corruption and at the same time commending the desire by the government to transform the economy in line with agenda 2063.

Professor Tony Hawkins presented on value driven industrialisation as a viable strategy for Zimbabwe where he gave insights on the decisions and strategies Zimbabwe had to take to revive its economy. Another presentation was by Dr Charles Mugaviri who discussed about servant leadership, where the emphasis is on the need for anyone in leadership position to take the higher ground and be there to serve and set a good example.

ZIMRA once again showed its contribution towards the resuscitation of the economy of Zimbabwe and its fight against corruption through partnering in this event.

The Commissioner General Ms Faith Mazani attended the summit and had a live interview with ZBC TV to shed more light on the Authority’s voluntary compliance campaign currently being held under the mantra “My taxes, my duties – building my Zimbabwe.

There was a questions and answer session where the presenters took questions and contributions were made. Justice legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi also attended the summit and responded to questions.
