The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) is geared up for the 102nd edition of the Harare Agricultural Show .The show will be running from 17 August 2012 to 25 August 2012 under the theme “inspiring national economic development through innovative and efficient revenue generation systems.”
The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) will host the second edition of the Taxpayer Appreciation Day sometime in September to honour clients who consistently meet their tax obligations on time and with minimum intervention from the Revenue Authority.
Statement by the ZIMRA Board Chairman on Revenue Performance
Net collections for the first half of 2012 amounted to US$1.495 billion against a target of US$1.5 billion, resulting in a negative variance of 0.34%. A large portion of the revenue was realised from Value Added Tax (VAT), Individual Tax and Excise Duty, which contributed US$497.2 million, US$299.7 million and US$175.4 million respectively. Mid-term fiscal policy review statement announced
The Mid-Term Fiscal Review presented by the Finance Minister Honourable Tendai Biti on 18 July 2012 resulted in a cut in economic growth forecasts. Budget estimates were reviewed to $3, 64 billion from $4 billion following the underperformance of key economic sectors including mining, manufacturing and agriculture with diamond revenue initially anticipated as one of the key drivers of revenues underperformed.
Jairos Jiri Southerton received nine state-of-the-art wheelchairs and a deep freezer from the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) on July 6, 2012. This is in line with the Authority’s unwavering commitment to uplift the welfare of disadvantaged members of society.
Zimbabwe, South Africa sign Double Taxation Agreement
A delegation from the South African Revenue Service (SARS) and South African National Treasury paid a three-day visit to Zimbabwe from July 3-5, 2012 to finalise negotiations on the avoidance of double taxation between Zimbabwe and South Africa.
