Workshop on Test Procedures Opens in Harare

mrs nellie mupanduki.jpg - 907.01 KbCustoms experts from Zimbabwe and Sudan have come together to deliberate on the modalities of setting up Customs laboratories which will help in the detection of dangerous drugs and harmful substances at border posts. The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) is hosting the workshop under the auspices of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), under the theme, “Test Procedures and Customs Laboratory Support in Zimbabwe and Sudan”.

 
Efforts to improve intra-African trade commended

acting cg2.jpg - 193.20 KbThe incoming Chairman for African Union Sub-Committee of Directors General, who is also ZIMRA Acting Commissioner General Mr Happias Kuzvinzwa, applauded the effort by African countries to improve trade facilitation.

Addressing Directors General of Customs from across Africa during the 8th Session Ordinary Meeting of the AU Sub-Committee of Directors General, Mr Kuzvinzwa highlighted the need for African countries to efficiently perform their critical role of boosting intra-African trade.

 
WCO Secretary General unveils 2017 Theme

wco secretary general.jpg - 3.10 MbThe World Customs Organisation (WCO) Secretary General, Dr Kunio Mikuriya, unveiled the 2017 WCO Theme as, “Data Analysis for Effective Border Management.”

He unveiled the theme whilst speaking during the 8th Ordinary Meeting of the African Union Sub-Committee of Directors General of Customs that was held from 17-18 November 2016 at a hotel in Harare.

 
Zimbabwe assumes AU Sub Committee Chairmanship

ttttt.jpg - 202.81 KbZimbabwe took over chairmanship of the African Union (AU) Sub-Committee of Directors General of Customs from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) during the 8th Ordinary Meeting of the AU Sub-Committee of Directors General of Customs held in Harare recently.

The meeting ran from 14 to 18 November 2016 under the theme, “From barriers to bridges – Implementing One Stop Border Posts for Improved Trade Facilitation.”

Directors General of Customs from across Africa came together to deliberate on ways to forge closer cooperation among African countries in areas of travel and trade facilitation.
