ZIMRA Celebrates International Customs Day

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) along with its customs and border management partners around the world celebrated International Customs Day commemorations, which were held in Mutare on 26 January 2018.

This year’s commemorations ran under the theme, “A secure business environment for economic development”. The theme goes in line with the ZIMRA Board’s drive to create a conducive environment for efficient revenue collection and trade facilitation.

 
APPOINTMENT OF ZIMRA COMMISSIONER GENERAL

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Faith Mazani as the new ZIMRA Commissioner General with effect from 1st February 2018. Ms Mazani is a dynamic and highly experienced technology savvy tax professional with an illustrious career which started with the then Zimbabwe Department of Taxes in 1983. She joined ZIMRA at its inception and was one of its first Revenue Commissioners. Faith left ZIMRA in 2007 and worked briefly for Deloitte and Touché before joining the South African Revenue Services (SARS) as a Senior Manager. She also served as a Commissioner for the Swaziland Revenue Authority (SRA). She brings a wealth of experience from working with international tax and regional organisations.

 
ZIMRA EXCEEDS 2017 ANNUAL REVENUE TARGET

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) exceeded its 2017 gross annual performance by 17% while net collections - after deducting refunds – were surpassed by 10%. The actual gross revenue collections were US$3.978 billion for the year while net collections were US$3.75 billion, which surpassed the target of US$3.4 billion by US$350 million.

 
EXTENSION OF THE PERIOD FOR RENEWAL OF CLEARING AGENTS’ LICENCES FOR 2018

Please be advised that the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has extended the period for renewal of Clearing Agents Licences for 2018 to 31st January 2018. This has been necessitated by the challenges being experienced with the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) World system.

 
ZIMRA Charity Ball 2017: Purposeful giving for a brighter future

With the generous intention of giving back and transforming lives in communities, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) hosted its memorable Charity Ball on 11 December 2017, which was supported by various organisations. This year’s edition of the Ball was held under the theme, “Purposeful giving for a brighter future”.

Speaking during the glamorous event, ZIMRA Board member, Mrs Katiyo, encouraged delegates to continue with the spirit of giving starting with the smallest act of kindness, as it leads to transforming livelihoods.
