ZIMRA’s anti-corruption drive yields positive results

phone_605.jpg website.jpg - 49.04 KbThe Zimbabwe Revenue Authority’s (ZIMRA) efforts to curb tax and duty corruption through the establishment of the anti-corruption hotline in May last year are beginning to bear fruits as the Authority has so far recovered  $120 million in assessments.

ZIMRA surpasses H1 revenue target

bonyongwe.jpg - 235.60 KbThe Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has surpassed the US$1.656 billion revenue target for the first half of 2017 by 2.72 per cent after net collections totalled US$1.701 billion  on the back of intensified enforcement efforts by the Authority in order to improve collections.

Gross collections for the First Half of 2017 were US$1.789 billion, 8.05% above the target of US$1.656 billion. Net collections, after deducting refunds to the magnitude of US$88.16 million, amounted to US$1.701 billion, yielding a positive variance of 2.72% above the target. This translated to an increase of 9.74% compared to US$1.550 billion collected over the First Half of 2016.


Acting CG scoops ZIM Leadership Excellence Award

awards.jpg - 68.43 KbThe Acting Commissioner General – Mr Happias Kuzvinzwa – was awarded the Zimbabwe Institute of Management Northern Region Leadership Excellence Award in Harare on 30 June 2017.

The award was in recognition of Mr Kuzvinzwa’s “contribution and dedication to developing and promoting best practices in management and leadership”.

ZIMRA Region 2 scoops ZNCC Enterprise of the Year Award

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority’s Region 2 has won the Second Runner Up accolade at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Enterprise of the Year 2017 Awards in the Public Enterprises Category. The prestigious award was in recognition of the Authority’s contribution to Ease of Doing Business in the country, and the various programmes the Authority has put in place to improve revenue collections.

Speaking at the award ceremony, which was held on 9 June 2017 in Bulawayo, ZNCC Regional Manager, Mr Mduduzi Ncube, congratulated ZIMRA for winning the award.

“As a Chamber, we wish you the best in your future business activities and join the rest of the business community in Matabeleland Region in honouring you for a job well done”, said Mr Ncube.

The ZIMRA Commissioner General has, in terms of Section 50A of the Value Added Tax Act [Chapter 23:12], appointed the Registered Operators listed below as Value Added Withholding Tax Agents with effect from 1 June 2017 and to commence withholding the tax from 1 July 2017. The agents are as follows:
